Youth Assistance Program

The Youth Assistance Program (YAP) provides after school and summer programs for youth 7 to 17 who are at risk of entering the juvenile justice system or are adjudicated and placed on probation. Activities are intended to help reduce youth crime by providing prevention and/or early intervention services.


YAP provides substance abuse prevention, conflict resolution, individual counseling, tutoring, homework assistance, cultural activities, career counseling, computer classes and recreational activities. YAP’s services are provided after school from 3 to 5 during the school year and from 10 to 3 during the summer. Participants are generally enrolled for three to six months and progress is monitored weekly.
