Fatherhood
Initiative
|
|
The Detroit Fatherhood Initiative is dedicated to engaging fathers of the Head Start children in a positive way in their child’s education and life. The Fatherhood Initiative nurtures meaningful connections between children and their
fathers, and is focused on changing the social challenges of children without
fathers.
We are focused on changing the social challenges of children without fathers. These numbers clearly demonstrate fathers are important to building strong families and communities:
-
85% of all youth sitting in prisons grew up in fatherless
homes
-
71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless
homes
-
85% of all youth who exhibit behavioral disorders come from fatherless
homes
Upgrading the general quality of life in the community requires reconnecting fathers to their children in a way that enables those children to successfully reach their fullest potential.
